Who said November was dark and dull? Well, they probably never heard about the November Lights Festival, Stockholm’s largest indoor celebration of music and light of the season.
On November 7th the Tele2 Arena hosted this festival with 5000 square meters of high-world-class-level dance floor, and on it Stockholmers and visitors danced to the sounds of: Josefin Rosén, Rehab, Salvatore Ganacci, Sick Individuals, Nervo, Knife Party, Ørjan Nilsen and the big-name headliner of the night Armin Van Buuren.
Dutchman Armin Van Buuren came to confirm with his performance why he’s still one of the most influential figures in the trance movement and perhaps one of the most popular DJs around the world. He had that vibe and energy that made you feel like he was just coming out to play for the first time ever, so fresh, very charismatic and most definitely with great sounds coming out from his decks that made everybody shake the dust off their dancing shoes.
The sisters Mim and Liv Nervo of NERVO were the only female act of the night and I must say a key act in helping set the mood of the night as a full-blown party. The girls owned the stage with their energy and their mastery of the decks.
Norway’s Ørjan Nilsen was received with incredible acceptance by the public who danced and cheered to the trance and progressive sounds of the producer-DJ. Ørjan played just before the headlining act of the night Armin Van Buuren, with whom he’s also collaborated on music productions in the past.
And on an important note, the lights really were key in making this festival the success it truly was. The stage was formed of two huge screens where every DJ projected videos and graphics. There were also light panels next to the stage, spotlights and lasers that responded to the music.
Some of the people in the crowd really made an effort to tone up with the essence of the festival and put a lot of effort into their outfits, filled with colours, shiny jewelry, fluorescent make up, rainbow-colored hair extensions, glitter, flashing accessories – you name it, they had it all.
November Lights was held for the first time in 2013 and then became Sweden’s first indoor festival of electronic dance music. November Lights is a sister festival of the Summer Burst Festival.
