The Stockholm International Film Festival kickstarted its 32nd edition with an opening gala the night of the 9th of November at Skandia theatre. There were plenty of well-known faces of the industry walking down the red carpet and the premiere of Pedro Almodovar‘s latest and very controversial film Parallel Mothers.
Your Living City was there to witness the official cutting of the film strip by the minister of culture Amanda Lind, who gave a speech about how the darkness, that set upon culture during the course of the last year, is now finally lifting its veil. She also dedicated some words of recognition to Jury President Sahraa Karimi, who had to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban took power in August.
Festival Head Git Scheynius gave her opening speech presenting this year’s country in focus: Mexico and this year’s topic: motherhood.
The night culminated with a homage to the Mexican culture and film with music by Mariachi Fiesta Mexico.
