Survival! A fashion experience out of the ordinary

Survival! A fashion experience out of the ordinary, took place on February 5th at Stockholm Fashion District in Nacka Strand. The fashion show became the culminating opportunity for buyers, press and agents as well as the fashion-interested public to appreciate the most stylish and trendiest outfits, with which the contributing brands at Stockholm Fashion Week Trade represent the voice of Swedish fashion today.

The night became a celebration of the season’s most loved tones and materials – and lots of shine. We could see a lot of leather, satin and chiffon flying past us on the catwalk. We were very happy to see that the punk/rock studded belts are really making a comeback, as some of the models wore even several of them around their waist in different coloured leather.

Other popular textures that adorned the Stockholm Fashion District’s newly opened showroom were animal print patterns, colourful faux fur, slinky satin and other shiny surfaces… Leather boots contrasted with Crocs with cool add-on accessories on them were also paraded in front of us. It was only last fall that the Stockholm Fashion District announced that a new physical platform and creative arena would be launched, so it was of course a festive experience to see it has now materialised and is full of life.

The contributing brands styled by Christopher Insulander were:
Adax, Ajlajk, Aubade, Biba, Cinzia Rocca, Crocs, Daily Sports, DIM, Dixie and Flare, Haust, Ilse Jacobsen, Isay, Joutsen, Kavat Shoes, KN Hats, OUI, Retach, Sebago, Shepherd of Sweden, Stockholm’s Dress Factory, Soya Concept Studio Heijne, UN by Göran Sundberg, Unmade Copenhagen and Wacoal.

“The afternoon of Wednesday February 5th Stockholm dressed in fashion. The F/W fashion approach was impressive with a variety of classic autumn style designs and very good talents on the catwalk. Something that caught my attention was the incorporation of Crocs to some of the parading outfits. A lot of creativity persisted in an event that was carried out at a high quality level. I found the Stockholm Fashion District premises very cozy and strategic, a worthy location for the fashion houses in Stockholm. I liked seeing a lot of brands and products incorporated into the fashion market with dark shades and brown colours included. Very good atmosphere and above all very good energy. I think  competition is born out of the variety and in competition practice leads to perfection!”, said Osvaldo Prieto, fashion enthusiast, Survival! attendee and YLC’s fashion contributor.
