Stylish Hair Trends Set To Be Huge In Stockholm This Autumn

If changing your hair colour when summer ends is too much of a commitment, then we’ve got some good news for you. The autumn 2024 hair trends call for classic cuts and styles that we’ve already come to know and love”, Vogue reports. Indeed, the classic bob haircut, for example, — a style which dates back to the roaring twenties and has yet to fall out of favour — is set to have another huge moment over the next few months. Similarly, statement blunt bangs are a familiar cut stylish Swedes increasingly can’t get enough of. But, if you prefer the idea of something a little less maintenance, natural hair is another current trend you can expect to see more and more as Stockholm transitions into fall.

The classic bob

Although the bob has always been a classic, it had somewhat of a resurgence within the last year. For instance, Swedish model, Elsa Hosk, recently debuted a trendy Italian bob, which was quite the departure from her usual casual waves. Plus, Hailey Beiber’s soft, preppy bob also further reinvigorated the trend. “It’s a great opportunity to cut off summer dead ends and have a fresh, chic style for scarf-and-turtleneck weather,” notes Mara Roszak, celebrity hairstylist and founder of Rōz. “Bobs are versatile and there is a style for all hair textures.” Indeed, in addition to the timeless classic bob, you have other beautiful options like curly bobs, the chin-length French bob, or the chic Italian bob that falls to the mid-neck.

The Baroque bob is a particularly elegant option. This style features longer, loose layers and voluminous curls that reach just above the shoulders. See Zendaya for inspiration. “Baroque-inspired curls add a sense of opulence,” Stockholm hairdresser, Robert Preston, tells Vogue Scandinavia. “It offers a combination of timeless beauty and modern artistry and it’s especially good for those with natural curls or longer bob hairstyles that have grown out.”

The au naturel look

Natural, unstyled hair has become increasingly popular in Stockholm in recent years. Low-maintenance hair makes life easier as there’s no need for expensive and time-consuming upkeep — which is a big part of its draw. It’s also a kinder alternative to intensive styling as it can allow heat-damaged hair the time it needs to heal. But that’s not to say natural hair can’t also be stylish. It certainly can be as the latest trends show. For example, the wide, elastic 90s jersey headband is on-trend again. This accessory is easy to wear at the front of your hairline and give your natural locks a polished, put-together yet effortless look.

As you needn’t use heat treatments or chemical processes on natural hair, this can also be a great time to remove any split ends and restore your hair health. For example, Velaterapia (also known as Brazilian hair burning) is a historic technique that uses fire to get rid of split ends. During this treatment, an experienced stylist twists small sections of hair and momentarily exposes them to flames to burn away split ends so only healthy strands remain.

Blunt bangs

Just like their name suggests, blunt bangs are straight, severe bangs with a sharp cut across the forehead. This is in contrast to conventional wispy bangs that typically have softer, feathered ends. Blunt bangs work particularly well on thick, dark hair and are a relatively easy way to make a statement this autumn. “This hairstyle gives a sharp and playful look while being adaptable to different lengths and textures,” Björn Axéns’ artistic director, Jack Lawrence tells Vogue Scandinavia.

“Whether you wear them long and heavy or short and bushy, blunt bangs are sure to be a prominent trend over the next year.” He is also a big fan of babydoll bangs: short, chic bangs cut higher than usual, roughly just above the eyebrows. For those who dare, this style is a great way to add a vintage 1950s or 60s vibe to their look.

Autumn is the perfect time to revamp your hair, so you can enter the season with a fresh new look. Whether you try the classic bob, blunt bangs, or go au naturel, any one of these trendy hair styles will be just what you need to boost your confidence this season.
