A few weeks after Stockholm Fashion Week drew to a close, Swedish design was yet again featured when profiled heavily in a large exhibition, Fashion Scandinavia, during London Fashion Week.

Fashion Scandinavia was part of international showcases arranged by the British Fashion Council, though was supported by embassies from each participating country; Sweden, Norway and Denmark. The west wing of London’s Somerset House, an important venue during LFW, featured clothing collections and furniture items from Scandinavia. Over 40 labels featured AW ’13 items available to browse in the five showrooms dedicated to ‘Scandinavian cool’.

Pine wood and white walls was a minimal canvas for Scandinavian lines such as Dagmar, Rodebjer and Gudrun and Gudrun. Curated up-and-coming designer’s to watch were present alongside more established names. British fashion alum Zandra Rhodes remarked on the ‘freshness and newness’ which she observed and admired, indeed Scandinavian style is known for a modern, clean look with minimal fuss.
As Stockholm’s own recent fashion week was featured by international website Style.com for the first time, attention is garnered and interest grows in the scene here. AT YLC we look forward to featuring and promoting local talent as the profile grows and Swedish design is recognized further!
