Whirlwind violinist Lindsey Stirling takes on Stockholm

Lindsey Stirling in Stockholm, playing the violin while doing the full split

The dancing violin virtuoso Lindsey Stirling is known for blending classical violin with electronic music and pop influences, and for the live experience putting it all together with her dance moves and stunning visuals to create an impressive show. She brought her Duality tour to Stockholm, and we were there.

The show kicks off with Piers Morgan’s words from America’s Got Talent, when he famously said Lindsey Stirling was “not good enough” to be moving around and playing the violin at the same time. His harsh words may have worked as motivation to work even harder at her craft, and Lindsey has of course gone on to become an international star doing exactly that.

And boy is she moving while playing that violin. She runs and jumps and kicks and bends over backwards, and does plenty of choreo to her music with her dancers.

Plus she’s also incorporated a fair bit of aerial acrobatics to the show, playing while spinning around in the air in a harness, or while hanging upside down from aerial silks. Unfortunately she saved these stunts for when us photographers had already left the photo pit… But she did offer plenty of cool poses for us to capture anyway.

Lindsey also talked a lot about chasing one’s dreams and overcoming anxiety. She even got the audience doing breathwork, which she says has helped her a lot with her anxiety. Have to say that was the first time ever that I have kept my eyes closed for an entire song during a concert, following her instructions and breathing IN, breathing OUT… Quite a refreshing experience.

Did you attend Lindsey’s show in Stockholm or somewhere else on the tour? Share your thoughts with us!
