The Palestinian artist Saint Levant has found viral fame recently, also making a mark with his live shows playing Coachella in April and Governor’s Ball in New York earlier this month. Now it was time for him to take the stage at Rosendal Garden Party.
Beside Raye, Saint Levant has to be one of the most spot-on and current bookings of the festival, as this is an artist on many music fans’ lips right now. He has also been outspoken about the liberation of Palestine and the horrible situation in Gaza, and there were indeed many showing support to Palestine in Saturday’s audience, wearing keffiyehs and waving the flags.
The very photogenic Saint Levant brought plenty of charisma and a contagious energy, and he had the people moving to the Middle Eastern rhythms of his music. He expertly puts together influences from Western pop, hip hop, soul, rai, Arabic music as well as other influences. His lyrics are also a mix between English, French and Arabic, and he touches on subjects like love, identity and the diaspora.
Here are some of our favorite pictures from the show.
