Miss Li finished her summer tour at Gröna Lund and left the crowd electried with her high energy and heartwarming emotion, serving both her recent Swedish-language superhits and more organic older favorites in English.
Miss Li was running behind schedule and the front-row was getting anxious about what was taking time. Having seen her stage outfit getting the last finishing touches just shortly before stepping into the photo pit, I assumed that the issue was just with getting dressed, but it turned out she had sprained her ankle and needed some bandaging. (Linda behövde lindas – that sounded rather funny in Swedish…)
Once she came on stage, the crowd erupted with excitement and you would not have believed there was anything wrong with her foot. She jumped and twirled across the stage in her usual energetic fashion, as if nothing was amiss.
Miss Li’s energy is always infectious and the crowd really fed off her enthusiasm and sang along to all of her big hits. Well at least the ones in Swedish, since the younger members of the crowd did not seem to be all that familiar with her older bangers.
She delivered hit after hit and engaged with the audience, sharing stories and anecdotes that created an intimate connection with the big crowd. The emotions were especially high when she talked about childhood friends who got her into singing and dancing, and told one of them was fighting cancer right now. When she then brought this friend with her daughter on stage to sing with her, you could be sure there were people moved to tears.
The night was unforgettable and left an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to be in attendance.
