The autumn may be here, but our Swedish musical favorites keep churning out loads of great music. And since so many of them have also been putting their visuals on the tunes, we decided to put together another round-up of recent Swedish music videos you definitely should not miss.
So crank up the volume and put those videos in full-screen mode and enjoy the ride!
BC Unidos: Bicycle
This tune has been on our playlists since the summer, but now there’s a video that gives us the nicest summery feels in the darkest days of autumn. BC Unidos is a sort of a super group, a band or a duo, a team where eveyone’s welcome. Markus Krunegård and Patrik Berger are the ones behind it, but other members include Charli XCX, Santigold, Noonie Bao, Amanda Bergman, Nicolai Dunger, US Girls, Ledinsky and Howlin Pelle (The Hives). Their debut EP is out now!
Janice: Queen
Janice is one of the definitive breakout artists of the year in Sweden, and really deserves international recognition as her vocals (and basically the whole package) are of international standard. Her debut album is due out in January, but until then, here’s her latest single and video, on which she shows why she should be the Queen of effin’ everything.
First Aid Kit: It’s a Shame
The beautifully harmonising folk-singing sisters Klara and Johanna of First Aid Kit are teasing the upcoming album with great tunes like It’s a Shame and Postcard. The video for the former is putting the sisters side by side in the same settings, but with rather different outcomes. a clever and effective visual treatment for this gem of a tune.
Tove Styrke: Mistakes
Tove Styrke really has to be one of the best pop acts in Sweden and she has really been delivering total pop perfection this year in the form of Say My Name and her latest Mistakes. The video for Mistakes sees her in the role of a runaway bride. Check out the stunning visuals right here!
Léon: I Believe in Us
Léon seems to be currently enjoying more recognition Stateside than back home in Sweden, and she’s been playing loads of shows in the US recently. Her latest single I Believe in Us has just received a beautiful video to accompany the emotional tune that works perfectly with her soulful voice.
NONONO: Masterpiece
You really can’t have missed this tune, as it has been playing in clothing ads on TV, but do check out the whole tune, as it really is a pop Masterpiece! The video is rather a strange tale of some type of a disturbing cult, but you know, it still makes you want to dance along…
Cherrie: 163 för evigt – feat. Z.E.
This one has become a rather surprising international success for Cherrie – surprising because it’s in Swedish, yet not at all surprising as it has such sweet beats and rhymes, and of course Cherrie’s natural flow of vocals. The tune has charmed everybody from the Somali diaspora to Buzzfeed and Rihanna. So now it’s your turn to vibe to this ode to the suburbs in the 163 postcode – Tensta and Rinkeby showing their vibrancy.
Adrijana: Brr Brr
Keeping with the urban vibes, here are some amazing hip hop beats from Adrijana, who doesn’t want to answer the phone that keeps going Brr Brr. You may (or may not) remember Adrijana from the Melodifestivalen qualifications this year, but this jam takes her game up another notch to a totally street-creddy level.
Esther Vallee: Numbers
Esther Vallee is yet another up’n’coming artist you need to look out for. Numbers has been getting quite nice airplay on the radio and now there’s a video that sees Esther going on a killing spree.
Kaliffa: Tippa på tå
Let’s finish with another one that gives us summer feels now that the November is at it’s darkest and most miserable… Kaliffa follows his huge summer hit Helt seriöst with this reggae-vibing feel-good tune about a girl tipping on her toes on the dancefloor. Makes you wanna move for sure…
