German synth-pop legends Alphaville played at Gröna Lund and pulled a crowd consisting of both nostalgia buffs, who know their music from their youth in the 1980s, and the younger generation, who may have found them through the viral TikTok success of Forever Young.
Alphaville has of course been a significant force in the new wave and synth-pop scenes of the 1980s. Their music is characterised by its blend of melancholy lyrics and uplifting synth arrangements. This creates a unique contrast, that has set them apart from most of their contemporaries.
The lead singer Marian Gold remains the constant driving force behind Aplhaville, ensuring their music continues to evolve, while retaining that distinct sound that made them famous in the first place.
The band’s influence is evident in the work of many current electronic and synth-pop artists, thus cementing Alphaville’s legacy in the world of music.
