Cinema Queer shines a light on LGBTQ+ movies – Sept 30 to Oct 6

Cinema Queer is Sweden’s biggest LGBTQ+ film festival, held annually in Stockholm since 2012. This year’s festival takes place from September 30 to October 6 in several locations around Stockholm.

The festival showcases a diverse range of queer films, including feature films, documentaries, and shorts from around the world. The festival aims to challenge norms, celebrate LGBTQ+ voices, and create inclusive spaces for artistic expression.

As usual, the festival brings more than just film screenings from emerging and established filmmakers. The schedule is filled with performances, art and parties. This year there’s even the chance to attend a queer sauna experience with sound installations at the Finnish Institute.

Some of the other highlights include the opening at the Allhelgonakyrkan church, including the movie Avant Drag and a performance to go along with it.

Another special feature is the queer classic Queen Christina, a Greta Garbo film from 1933, which is shown at the Vattentornet on Skeppsholmen.
