¨A World Of Shapes¨ was the theme of this year’s Formex interior fair, which took place between 17-20 January 2018. Inspired by British artist David Hockney, the theme brought together various interior design forms to create new playful constellations.
At Formex you find everything from sweets and chocolates to interior design, fashion and gifts. It’s here all these different expressions of design explode in creativity and present their wildest and most original or innovative proposals for the year.
We were at the fair and captured the hottest trends in designs, delights, decor, fashion and toys. Here are the photographs:
DELIGHTS
There was a vast array of chocolates and sweets, but these are the ones that caught our attention. This is how the prettiest chocolate pralines look like – and they are as delicious as they look, perhaps even more so! A creation by Choconord, available in selected stores across Sweden.
DECOR
Cactus fantasies, bringing sunstroke desert looks into the less exotic Swedish homes.
Bringing light home in a way that matches every space and every taste.
Ljusbringare by Lumipak is an ecological alternative to candle light and oil lamps with paraffin. Made in Sweden of chemically neutral natural materials. Burns on plain cooking oil. The lamps come in different patterns and are placed in an glass container, bowl.
Pineapples in all shapes and for all uses are a must in every living space.
The original and playful
Rusty surfaces were something we saw being used widely in objects of decoration both for the outdoors as well as the indoors.
It’s Día de Muertos everyday!
LIVING SPACES
We like adventurous ideas, just like these sharp and wild living spaces from Silkflower.
We just really like the mixture of textures when metal, leather, stone and fabric come together in an almost completely rough way, just as Fuhr Home does with furniture.
The Mediterranean house.
LIFESTYLE
The original and functional.
The original and innovative: We discovered these phone speakers by EcoSound made entirely of wood, that are obviously eco-friendly and look very cool.
How about these very original, very innovative products by Lexon. 1. Looks like a coffee capsule but is actually a bluetooth speaker for your phone, and quite powerful at that. Perfect for any summer picnic. It also works as a remote phone camera trigger taking your selfies to a whole new level. 2. These cool alarm clocks will not take your sleep away, and you can snooze them by just tapping on them or turn them off by turning them around to the ‘Off’ side. 3. A radio that every shower needs, waterproof, also very powerful and funky looking.
A practical and stylish wine bag to take with you to the beach.
Patterns, strong patterns everywhere!
Here’s a reminder from Lafinesse to never leave your sense of humor out of the house.
KIDS
We just love the simplicity and originality of House Of Disaster. Very simple and playful.
1. Beautiful details to decorate the kid’s rooms. 2. Cute novelties by Ty. 3. Perhaps the most original and fun backpacks and travel bags by Pick & Pack. 4. A classic doll house never goes out of fashion. 5. The Star Wars characters were present everywhere. 6. The unicorn fever is definitely still going to be around for a while.
The emoji is still trending.
FASHION
Jewellery that uses real stones and metals.
What do you say about this clever way of wearing a watch that doesn’t actually tell you the time? Nullame‘s watches are stylishly crafted out of natural materials such as leather, wood and stone and they are meant to be a reminder for you to be right where you are and when you are. Just what we need these days, isn’t it? It’s the right here, right now o’clock!!
We met the agency that sells the jewellery of Culture Mix, a fair trade brand that also uses completely ecological materials. They have respect for the people who make them in Philippines and their environment. Do keep an eye on them!
Waiting For The Sun’s sunglasses have also been made as a response to the tendency of reducing plastic objects at home and in what we wear. They are entirely made of wood and metal. Even those parts that look like plastic are made of wood resin.
We were very drawn towards the designs by Bud To Rose.
