A summer evening sing-along at Skansen

We have said it before and will say it again, Allsång på Skansen really is the most Swedish of all things Swedish. It is a cherished cultural institution that brings people of all ages together to celebrate music, community and the Swedish summer.

The sing-along tradition at Skansen goes way back to 1935, and it has been televised since 1979, making it a national pastime on Tuesday evenings during the summer season. If you ever get the chance to experience it live, we really think you should go and see for yourself what the fuss is all about.

We went to programme number 3 of the 2024 season to see the host Pernilla Wahlgren joined by a variety of artists performing their own songs as well as joining the audience in singing along to some beloved Swedish classics.

As per tradition, host Pernilla Wahlgren kicked off the show with Stockholm i mitt hjärta, an ode to Stockholm, the city in all our hearts.

Jill and the Johnsons did their part for countrifying the Allsång stage, singing about how it’s taken a minute for country queen Jill Johnson‘s country to love country.

Pernilla called Medina the party ambassadors, and they sure brought the fun with their sing-along number, Peps Persson’s Oh Boy.

An Arab, a Finn and and an Italian walk into a bar… and start singing a beautiful song. Parham, Timo Räisänen and Oscar Zia performed the new song they have made together on Timo’s initiative.

The trio picked Carola‘s Mickey as their sing-along song and the audience was going wild.

There was a touching tribute to longtime Allsång host and Swedish entertainment legend Lasse Berghagen, who passed away last year. Pernilla sang his Teddybjörnen Fredriksson with a children’s choir (and the original teddy bear).

The Alive Gospel choir was also a part of the tribute to Lasse Berghagen.

Tommy Nilsson also joined in on the tribute beside singing a brand-new song of his own.

Indie darling Linn Koch-Emmery made her Allsång på Skansen debut and upped the coolness factor of the show considerably with her song Ebay Armour.

Jill Johnson and Tommy Nilsson joined forces in a sing-along with the audience, doing Tommy’s classic Öppna din dörr, of which Jill has her own English version called Open Your Heart from when she did Så Mycket Bättre.

Medina brought more party vibes to round up the evening with their Melodifestivalen hit Que Sera.
